Rose McConnell Long was an American politician and the wife of Huey Long, a former governor and senator from Louisiana. She was born on April 8, 1892, and raised in a small farming community in Kansas. In 1913, she attended the University of Oklahoma, where she met Huey Long, whom she married in 1913. During her political career, Rose Long served as a United States Senator from Louisiana from 1936 to 1937, the first woman to do so.
